National Champs!

July 6, 2015

Both Locations Bring Home National Titles!

Team spirit, dedication, and determination has once again proved to be the recipe of success for the Canadian Dance Company as our full-time competitive companies from both the Burlington and Oakville locations banded together to conquer the Showstopper National Finals in Myrtle Beach, SC earlier this month.  Competing against numerous top-notch schools from across the United States and Canada, the CDC faculty was proud to witness the coming together of both locations as they supported one another throughout the week-long competition.  New friendships were formed and old ones solidified as the teams joined forces to cheer on the 128 dancers who travelled to Myrtle Beach to represent CDC.  The mantra “Eat, Sleep, CDC!” was chanted throughout the week with great pride.

We are amazed to have witnessed the professionalism of all of our dancers as they represented the Canadian Dance Company with the utmost tenacity at this National level competition.  Some notable awards include the Junior, Teen, and Senior overall champions; Emily Roman, Denise Goping, and Myles Erlick.  “Over the Rainbow” and “He’s Back” were awarded the Mini Small and Large Group Championships, while “Safe Place” and “Pas De Chats” won the Junior titles.  “Heroes” and “J.Jackson” were crowned Senior Small and Senior Large Group Champions, and the “Aladdin” production earned the “Productionmania Winner” title.

The Showstopper National Championships proved to be a week of more than dance, trophies, and titles.  It was the coming together of two dance families to create new memories and friendships that will last a lifetime.
